Following the the tragic fatal stabbing last week of a 79 year old woman in Commerce Road, Bounds Green, Lib Dem Council Group Leader, Cllr Richard Wilson said,

This is a horrific crime and all our thoughts are with the victims family, friends and neighbours.

We need an independent review to find out out if local mental health services could have done anything to prevent this terrible incident, and to learn lessons for the future.  It is vital that people with mental health problems get the support they need and that the authorities step in where necessary to protect the public.

The review should look into whether the NHS, Police and Haringey Council are communicating effectively when it comes to residents with mental health problems.
